Frequently Asked Questions

At Reliance Center, we are here to answer any questions you may have about your options, our programs or the resources we offer to women and men in the community. If you have any additional questions, please contact us to set up a free and confidential appointment today!

How much will my appointment cost?

Because we care about your health and well-being, all our services are completely free of charge. Additionally, you will not need to show proof of insurance to make an appointment, but you will be asked for a valid photo ID at all appointments.

Will anyone find out about my appointment?

All of our services are confidential regardless of your age or situation. We will not provide any information to anyone without your written consent.  You have the right to confidential help except in those rare cases where mandatory reporting applies. Because STI and pregnancy testing can often lead to a wide range of follow-up discussions, we encourage all of our patients to talk to a family member or friend that they trust. If you choose, you may bring them to the appointment. Our goal is making your health and confidentiality our top priority.

What if I don’t know what to do next?

If you find out that you are pregnant and are unsure of your next steps, we can help. We offer options counseling, where we can answer your questions and address any concerns you have regarding your pregnancy. Our friendly and knowledgable staff is ready to listen.

How do I get involved in the Earn While You Learn program?

If you are an expectant mother and choose to participate in our parenting program, you are eligible for the Earn While You Learn program and will have access to the baby boutique as well. Contact us to learn more about the programs we offer to pregnant women.

If I’m pregnant, could I also have an STD?

Unfortunately, yes. Having unprotected sex puts you at risk for contracting STDs, as well as the potential to become pregnant. You can make a free appointment for STD testing and treatment at Reliance Center.

If I don’t have permanent or steady housing, can Reliance help?

Through our Reliance House, we can help pregnant women, or women with babies up to six months old, with temporary housing. If you need assistance, please reach out to us and we can give you more information on our housing program.

How can I support my partner through her pregnancy?

Being a parent is hard work, but that doesn’t mean you have to go through it alone! As a dad, you will play an important support role to your partner and an important part in your child’s life. We offer programs to help you be the best dad and partner.

Do you provide Plan B?

How do I know for sure if I'm pregnant?

Reliance Center offers free, lab-quality pregnancy testing to verify a pregnancy. Our staff will administer the test to ensure accuracy and then discuss your results with you immediately during your appointment.

Do I need an appointment or can I just walk in?

While you do not need to make an appointment during our business hours, we encourage that you call ahead to ensure you are seen in a timely manner. We are always considerate of your time.

What is an ultrasound and why do I need one?

An ultrasound uses sound waves to create an image of the inside of your uterus. If you have a positive pregnancy test at Reliance Center, your next step is to get a limited obstetrical ultrasound. An ultrasound can determine how far along you are, detect a fetal heartbeat and determine if you have a viable pregnancy. An ultrasound is a simple, yet crucial, procedure to determine your next steps.
