Limited Obstetrical Ultrasounds

Have you taken a pregnancy test and received positive results? Don’t panic, we can help you with your next steps. Reliance Center can provide you with a free limited obstetrical ultrasound to confirm your pregnancy.

Why do I need an ultrasound?

While a positive pregnancy test can indicate a pregnancy, the only way to tell for sure whether you are pregnant is through an ultrasound. Our limited obstetrical ultrasounds provide you with important information regarding your pregnancy, so you can assess your next steps once the ultrasound is complete.

Additionally, an ultrasound provides you with a proof of pregnancy. For many government assistance programs, you will need proof of an ultrasound to obtain different types of aid/assistance.

What does an ultrasound do?

An ultrasound, also called a sonogram, uses tiny sound waves to detect the contents of your uterus. It can determine whether there is a fetal heartbeat, as well as find out how long you have been pregnant. This information is crucial when obtaining a proof of pregnancy.

In addition to this information, an ultrasound can also determine whether you might miscarry or have an ectopic pregnancy. According to the Mayo Clinic, about 10 to 20 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage, with most miscarriages occurring in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. A miscarriage can occur for many reasons, but the most common reason is due to chromosomal abnormalities.

On the other hand, ectopic pregnancies occur when the fertilized egg implants outside of the uterus, typically in the fallopian tubes. A pregnancy cannot survive outside the uterus, but as it continues to grow, it can cause serious damage to your surrounding organs and can cause serious bleeding. If you have an ectopic pregnancy, you will be advised to seek immediate medical attention.
